Chef Hugh teaches me how to make my favorite soup, hot 'n sour soup! No, vodka is not one of the ingredients.     Enjoying the fruits of our (his) labor. We enjoy the hot 'n sour soup with some Korean ginseng wine we randomly bought. Hugh hates when I take pics of him sweating from the spice.     I took a walk and discovered a small college campus across the street. There, in plain view, were two large prophylactic vending machines. Well, I guess that reduces excuses for not having safe sex ...     Forwarded mail from my old place. Guess the dog caught up with the mailman.     I am never going back to the 99 Cent Store at Westheimer and Hwy 6. That was the worst exchange experience ever. Let's just say that I had to deal with a hostile manager for 10 minutes over just trying to get my dollar back. There was a reasonable resolution, but only after significantly raising my blood pressure.     Just in time for Valentine's day. Vegetarians rejoice ...     It started raining really hard, and someone parked in front of our clinic had neglected to close their trunk. Yes, I went and closed it, but only after snapping a few pics. :) (I got thoroughly soaked in those 2 secs I was out in the rain!)     Venita and her grandparents at the 2nd ever Silverture open house.     Angkor tries to deny his friendship with Venita. But wait, he's on her Friendster, so ... he MUST be her friend! :)     I love how they put everything on display. And I love how you can shop for stuff in a cool little silver bucket.     Venita's grandma and guest.     They had some Valentine's specials going on. I don't even like jewelry, but I thought they were cute.     Venita's wonderfully contagious smile and laugh.     Headed out to the Museum of Fine Arts to check out Basquiat with Anita. The night started by finally finding parking behind a Destiny's Child van ...     We walked the couple blocks in the cold to the museum, where there was a long-azz line ... which I couldn't understand because they'd already told me that the 5000-person capacity had already been reached.     But what's this? It was a lady handing out warm Starbucks coffee to the people waiting in line! (Starbucks was a major underwriter for the event)     We score us some warm coffee and some chocolate too for the walk back to the car.     The car's battery decided to die. So we started flagging people down for help. I was surprised that most people stopped when I waved at them. Unfortunately, everyone 1) didn't have jumper cables (as we did not) or 2) had some weird battery that makes it impossible to help someone jump their car.     We could blame the full moon that night, but I'm sure most if not all of our problems stemmed from the fact that we were parked on Caroline street. Did I ever mention that I was born on Friday the 13th?     Destiny's Child's little known 4th member.     Anita comes back from Gatsby's (our plan B) to save us. So I got to meet David and Krupa (of Outta My Butt fame!) for the first time over jumper cables.     So we went to plan C: Brazil's coffee shop, deep in the heart of Montrose (known for its gay community). On the way to the coffee shop, I saw this Valentine display of underwear.     Me 'n Anita, finally getting to chill out at the coffee shop.     David, the guy who came to our rescue with jumper cables. Thanks, David!     I wonder if Anita looks like she's gonna beat you into a pulp when she's teaching too.     I don't think I have a normal shot with Anita yet. Oh wait, this IS normal...     A glimpse inside my new digs. Thanks to the people whose pictures I'm using and will use to adorn the walls :)     I went to check out my first flea market. Reminded me of China.     I go for a free test drive on a massage bed. It was pretty cool. It even massaged my legs individually!     Mint fortune cookies at Jasmine Asian Cuisine. My first time seeing green fortune cookies!     I'm retarded. I obviously can't read. I think I stuck like 15 sheets in and was wondering why the hell the stupid shredder wasn't working. Duh!     For V-day eve, I made Chef Hugh show me how to use the old coffeemaker my parents I borrowed from my parents.     Hugh then proceeded to make soup (with the vegetarian bouillon shown here) and ketchup fried rice. I am never disappointed when he says, "Lemme just whip something up real quick".
